How Range Is Measured in the Audi e-tron

Understandably, there may be concern around the implementation and safety of electric vehicles being introduced into our lives. Change is never comfortable and with the combination of 'unknown technologies' there will always be questions.

The four rings have introduced an infotainment center that has the ability to predict the remaining electric charge range of your Audi E-tron, providing some peace of mind.

1. Individual Calculation Range

Range remaining is clearly displayed on the infotainment system of the Audi e-tron and is determined with great precision on the basis of an individual calculation.
The calculation takes the consolidated data and of the entire vehicle system, including the drive management system (PCU), modular infotainment platform, electric system, gateway, hv battery/thermal management, and more.

2. Environmental Factors

Outside temperature and humidity are continuously - and immediately - considered for the prediction of the remaining range.

3. Driving Profile

Individual driving profile is included in the calculation of the remaining rage over a period of 100km and makes it even more precise.

The vehicle's 'comfort consumers' provide direct and honest feedback on the range display including air conditioning, seat heating, mirror heating, steering wheel heating, and rear window heating.

4. Informative Range Visualization

The range shown in the virtual cockpit and MMI display gives a precise indication of the potential operating range with the current battery charge.

5. Active Route Guidance

The system uses concrete route information and real-time data to calculate the remaining electric range with even greater precision.

6. Topography

The active route guidance of the navigation system considers uphill and downhill slopes when calculating remaining range.

7. Speed Limits

Consumption is predicted on the basis of existing route information (tempo limits/ free ride).

8. Consideration of Real-Time Data

Online traffic information is included in the range calculation, based on changed route guidance or adjusted speed.

9. Optimized Route Planning

The e-tron route planner takes necessary charging stops into account and also shows a target 'state of charge' from which the journey should ideally be continued.

10. Parameters that Influence Thermal Management

Predicted environmental conditions or significant route changes influence range calculation.

11. Driving Style

Learned consumption values are considered according to speed classes when calculating remaining range.

Your Audi e-tron includes two-year access to the Electrify Canada charging network. This includes unlimited, 30-minute DC fast-charging sessions. This means you can charge your Audi up to 80% and on the road in under 30 minutes. Electrify Canada's goals is to have more than 100 charging locations and 500 chargers by 2026.

With this information, you can feel better knowing your e-tron infotainment system has the ability to keep track of all the valuable information you need to get you from point A to B. The only thing you will need to do is organize a sweet summer playlist. Happy driving!
