Celebrating 20 Years of the RS6

For 20 years, the Audi RS 6 has been shaping the field of high-performance station wagons with impressive performance and outstanding everyday usability. Its success lies in its underlying concept from 2002 with its double-charged engine and all-wheel drive.

A great deal of effort was executed by the Audi engineers at quattro GmbH making the A6 a sportscar and adapting the engine, suspension and transmission. It's sporty ambitions were emphasized with new skirts, wider sills, a spoiler for the Avant, 18" or 19" inch wheels, and two oval tailpipes. The appearance also shifted - growing four centimeters in both length and width.

In 2019, three years before its 20th birthday, the fourth generation RS 6 (C8) is supported by a 48 volt mild hybrid system - improving efficiency even further. The RS Avant races to 100km/h (62 mph) in a brisk 3.6 seconds and needing only twelve seconds to reach 200 km/h (124 mph).

Even lay people will recognize right away that this is no normal A6. While the concept has stayed the same, it continues to set new standards in its competitive environment. Technical Vorsprung shows up in the Dynamic Ride Control suspension - which has been used in other RS models for a long time.

Stephan Reil has been there from the start: "For me, the current RS 6 is the crowning achievement of two decades of RS history". Click to learn more https://www.audi-mediacenter.com/en/presskits/audi-rs-6-14744
